Brett Witherspoon
I’m Brett, a UX designer with a foundation in graphic and visual design. I began my career creating branding systems, print materials, and environmental graphics. That work sharpened my eye for clarity, composition, and storytelling. These skills continue to guide my approach to product and experience design today.
My transition into UX was driven by a desire to design not just how things look, but how they work. I’m especially interested in making digital experiences more intuitive, inclusive, and accessible through research, testing, and thoughtful iteration.
Outside of design, you’ll likely find me outdoors, hiking, camping, or drawing inspiration from nature and the people around me.
My Design Journey
My love for design began in childhood, with sketchbooks full of drawings and early experiments in Photoshop and Premiere Elements. My grandma gifted me the software, and that was my first exposure to digital design. I knew I wanted to do something creative.
At first, I considered industrial design, but after earning my AA in Studio Art, I pursued a BA in Design at California State University, Long Beach. The program’s multidisciplinary focus let me explore everything from visual storytelling to systems thinking, and it was there that I first discovered user experience design.
Over the past few years, I’ve worked professionally as a graphic designer, developing brand identities, print materials, digital campaigns, and signage. That foundation in visual design continues to shape my approach as I grow into a more UX-centered practice. I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction and Design (MHCID) at UC Irvine to deepen my knowledge of research, accessibility, and product strategy.
Design has always been my way of connecting with others. Whether I’m creating a brand or improving a user flow, I’m driven by the belief that thoughtful, people-first design can make a meaningful difference.
